DESCRIPTION:St. Louis Urbanists\n**Help us kick off CP2's first-ever Crosswalk Action!**\nJoin the [St. Louis Coalition to Protect Cyclists & Pedestrians](https://www.instagram.com/stlcp2/) and [St. Louis Urbanists](https://stlurbanists.org/) as we spend an hour raising awareness about Arsenal's new pedestrian crossings and reminding drivers to stop for people in crosswalks.\nArsenal recently received several new high-visibility crosswalks\, curb extensions (bump-outs) at unsignaled intersections and also a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) at Bent Avenue to make crossing safer. These improvements only work if drivers recognize them and yield to people crossing. That's where we come in.\n**Details**\n\n* **Saturday\, September 26**\n* **9:00-10:00 a.m.**\n* **Meet at Bent & Arsenal**\n\nWe'll gather at the crosswalk near the basketball courts on the north side of Arsenal at Bent Avenue for a brief orientation before heading out to the crosswalk(s). Volunteers will hold friendly safety signs\, encourage drivers to stop\, answer questions from curious passersby\, and help raise awareness about pedestrian safety.\n\nIf you're comfortable doing so\, you can also serve as a Crossing Volunteer by crossing with members of the public who are already waiting to cross. No experience is necessary\, and volunteers should only participate in activities they're comfortable with.\nWhether you're a longtime advocate or simply someone who wants safer streets for everyone\, we'd love to have you join us.\n\n**What to expect**\n\n* 5-minute volunteer briefing\n* About one hour at nearby crosswalk(s) - We may expand our crossings depending on attendance\n* High-visibility vests and signs provided\n* Brochures available to hand out to anyone who asks about the event\n* Family-friendly (children should attend with a parent or guardian)\n\n**Bring**\n\n* Comfortable shoes\n* Water\n* Sun protection\n* A safety vest if you already have one (optional\, we'll have our own stash)\n\n**Weather**\nWe'll be there as long as the Tower Grove Farmers Market is happening. Rain won't stop us\, but severe weather will.\n\n**We hope you'll RSVP but walk-ups are always welcome!** If you happen to see us while visiting the farmers market\, feel free to stop by and join us or just cross the street where we are.
