SUMMARY:Meet the Author: Tim Scherrer - DO OUR PART: THE TRAGIC TALE OF THE WELDON SPRING ORDNANCE WORKS
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon with Tim Scherrer as he discusses his newest book\, DO OUR PART: THE TRAGIC TALE OF THE WELDON SPRING ORDNANCE WORKS\n\nAbout DO OUR PART: THE TRAGIC TALE OF THE WELDON SPRING ORDNANCE WORK:\n\nFORTY-FIVE DAYS TO LEAVE. A LIFETIME TO FORGET.\n\nIn the fall of 1940\, the rural peace of Howell\, Toonerville\, and Hamburg\, Missouri\, was shattered by a single announcement: their homes were to become the site of the world's largest TNT plant.\n\nWith the Department of War moving at a ruthless pace\, families were uprooted and left adrift in the name of national security. Within a year\, the soil that once held their legacies was fueling the front lines of WWII. But the end of the war didn't bring the end of their struggle.\n\nDo Our Part is the gripping true story of a community that sacrificed everything for their country—only to have to fight their own government for justice. It is a testament to faith\, the pain of displacement\, and a landmark Supreme Court battle that proved victory is often bittersweet.\n\nAbout Tim Scherrer:\n\nA native of Quincy\, Illinois\, Tim Scherrer received his B.A. and M.A. in History from Truman State University where he was also a Distinguished Military Graduate of the Army ROTC program.
