St. Louis Historic Sites History Meetup NEW Event Will go again: 2033 Cost: Free This event is part of Historic St. Louis's Spring event. This event is open to the public. In the past I have attempted to get a private tour for our group, but it has never panned out. I thought this might be the easiest way. Note, there are several historic houses open for free for the Historic St. Louis event. You can, of course, see any you like. But, our group will visit every place open on June 13 sometime in the next 6.5 years (including the Ste Genevieve sites). "The **Utz-Tesson House** is the 2nd oldest house in the greater St. Louis area open to the public. It is also the only house remaining in the region once owned by city founder Auguste Chouteau. Based on the distinctive notching of the logs on one side of the structure, experts have dated the building to the late 1700sβ€”most likely around 1782." from my book! A kiosk outside the house provides visitors with details about its history and architecture. I'm sure there will be costumed docents available also. Along with the house, the park also has open the Knobbe House and the Little Red Schoolhouse. The Knobbe house has several pictures of the German-American families that once called it home. The Little Red Schoolhouse is set up as a one-room school from the late 1800s. The school closed in 1952. All 3 locations are clustered together in the park.
