St. Louis Historic Sites History Meetup Weekend trip to Evansville, IN Evansville is the 3rd largest city in Indiana. The tri-state region, encompassing Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois, is situated on the Ohio River. It is about 2.5 hours from St. Louis. You can join the planned activities or do other things you find. Hotel info: I got a block of rooms at the Hyatt Place Downtown. We have a block of rooms. Cost is $129 per night. I have booked a room and with tax it comes to $150 a night. You might be able to find cheaper rooms along I-69, but it will be a 20-minute drive or so to the downtown events. Friday: Maybe a short trip to Henderson, KY to see the John James Audubon museum or their riverwalk along the Ohio River. (15 minutes from Evansville). We'll also go to Angel Mounds on Sunday if this kind of time is not for you! **BREAKFAST** (if you don't have it at hotel): Savannah's, 1802 Stringtown Rd **9:30**: $5 Tour of **Bosse BallField** (confirmed) - 23 Don Mattingly Way - opened in 1915, it is the 3rd oldest ballfield in the US still being used (behind Fenway in Boston and Wrigley in Chicago). Best known now for being the ballfield used to film "A League of their Own". (Don't mention Madonna to the Evansville people - she wasn't nice to them and they still don't like her!). **11:00am:** $20 Tour of the **USS LST**. Corey from USS LST also recommends the **Evansville** **Wartime Museum** (where the LSTs were built during WW2) - 7503 Petersburg Road. The Evansville Wartime Museum is north of the city, so "on the way" to getting to I-64 and is open on Sundays (and free). More details to follow on hotel information.
