We’re kicking off the year with our first Design Talk here at UMSL, featuring Megan Irwin! Megan Irwin is a graphic designer and educator whose studio practice is centered on archival research, material exploration, and typographic experimentation. Her self-authored work explores object and place-based narrative through the form of the book. She is interested in the interplay of analog and digital methodologies in order to resist the uniformity of digital media and highlight the humanity behind designed artifacts. Irwin earned her Master of Fine Arts in graphic design from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her design work has recently been recognized by Communication Arts and Society of Typographic Arts. Her work has been commissioned by The New Yorker and The New York Times, and her zine “The Don’t Give a Dames” lives in the permanent collection at Museum für Kunst & Gewerbe Hamburg. Join us for an evening of conversation, creativity, visual culture, and ideas shaping contemporary design
