Are you interested in learning more about the United States Flag?As part of our America 250 celebration, this talk will cover the history of the United States Flag and its design.  Other topics covered will be a discussion of the Flag Act of 1777 and other resources that evolved into the U.S. Flag Code that we have today.Lastly, the use of proper etiquette and myths around our National Flag, and why June 14th is significant. About the Presenter:Ray Brundege was born in Kettering, the United Kingdom. His father, a 26-year veteran of the Air Force, is from Mexico, Missouri. Ray's mother is now a very proud naturalized citizen, originally from Corby, England. He comes from a military tradition on both sides, which influenced Ray to begin his military career, serving for over 20 years in the Army. His grandparents also nurtured his passion for studying history, nature, and community service. After retiring from the military, Ray served as a park ranger for North Carolina State Parks and Tennessee State Parks, Anti-Terrorism Program Manager, and also worked as an Education Specialist for the National Park Service. Ray currently resides in Belleville, Illinois, with his wife and their two children.Presented in partnership with the St. Charles County Historical Society, whose mission is to collect, preserve, and share the history and genealogy of St. Charles County for future generations.
